VDB Bistronomie opened in August 2019 in the heart of Alfama, tucked into a cobbled side street a few steps from the Tagus. The project grew out of Clément Van Den Bergh's time running a wine bar in Paris, and his desire to build something in Lisbon with the same spirit: unfussy, but never casual about quality.
Everything here is built around sharing. The menu, designed by chef Rafael Amsler, changes every week with the seasons and the local producers. All organic, all Portuguese. Two or three plates make a meal. We recommend letting Clément choose the wine.
The natural and biodynamic wine list runs to over a hundred references, from the least expected corners of Portugal to the quieter growers of Europe. The kitchen is open. The room is small. Reservations are advised.
